NORTEK SUBSIDIARY ADDS WESTINGHOUSE TO FAMILY OF BRANDS

PROVIDENCE, RI, February 8, 2002 - In a move to strengthen its offering of brand name products, Nortek, Inc. (NYSE:NTK) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Nordyne Inc., will begin manufacturing and distributing a new product category under the Westinghouse name. To be marketed as one of Nordyne's premium residential and light commercial brands, the product suite will encompass a range of popular heating and cooling systems. The addition of Westinghouse complements the FrigidaireÒ and TappanÒ brand name products already offered by Nordyne.

Nordyne secured the business arrangement with Westinghouse last month, forming a relationship that will benefit Nordyne distributor and contractor customers across the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Nordyne will produce a full line of heating and cooling products under the Westinghouse brand name beginning in the second quarter of 2002. Current research indicates that more than 88 percent of U.S. consumers recognize the Westinghouse brand. Westinghouse has had a long history for reliability and quality products.

"The success of the branding strategy that Nordyne launched in 1998 has exceeded our expectations," said Richard L. Bready, Nortek's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "Nordyne heating and cooling systems provide customers with the finest engineered products, constant innovation and unsurpassed quality. As such, it's a natural for Nordyne to expand with the prestigious Westinghouse brand name."

Nordyne, headquartered in O'Fallon, Missouri, manufactures and distributes a complete line of high-quality heating and cooling products for the residential and light commercial markets.
