Providence, RI, June 16, 1998 -- Nortek, Inc.(NYSE:NTK) announced today the formation of VENTROL, a new corporation for the manufacture of HVAC products in Montreal, Canada. VENTROL will be a part of Nortek's Commercial Environmental Systems Group.

VENTROL's capability will include fabrication of custom air handling and heat recovery equipment to serve the commercial and industrial markets in Canada and the eastern United States. A state-of-the-art plant is planned, with completion expected in October 1998. At full capacity, the plant will occupy 150,000 square feet and employ approximately 230 people.

The new company will have available, from other Nortek HVAC companies, powerful design, selection and pricing software to better serve its representatives, engineers, and architects. Flexible, user-friendly software along with state-of-the-art-CNC manufacturing capability will provide the new operation with a competitive advantage.
